Unfortunately due to circumstances out of my control, I couldnt get to Uni this week for my lecture or tutorial.  I feel completly lost! I have read thru my lecture notes and thats all good, I would have liked to hear the discussions on '9 elements of Authentic Learning' I think it would have been really interesting.  I really like the Multiple Perspectives and Authentic Assessments elements.
I like the Multiple perspectives element as sometimes someone can 'get through' to another person just by the way they talk and the two people just click.  Personal experience and the way someone explains something aslo have a lot to play in this.  This would be really helpful for students because sometimes people just dont work well together and if someone else comes into the teaching situation the student will still learn the information and it wont have a negative impact on their learning.  The last thing anyone wants is for a student to feel that they are 'stupid' just because personalities clash or the teaching method is not what they need.
Authentic assessments is a great idea because formal examinations can be so stressful that the student might know all the information, but be so scared or intimidated by the process that they fail the unit because of the exam.  I much prefer assignments throughout the course, I think students put greater effort in and get alot more out of it.
I have put a post on the LMS - I am hoping that someone is able to help me with what I didnt get in the workshop. I have also Emailed Jenni, so fingers crossed I get a reply back soon so I can get working on what I need to have done by Tuesday. It doesnt seem like a lot of time to get the work done, but Im sure I will get it all in - head down, bum up!
